January 20, 2000: There is a full lunar eclipse tonight. A slight shadow of the earth is creeping over the melancholy face of the moon. He has doe eyes, slow and sad. Turned down at the corners like a clown. There is a beautiful halo around the moon, too, like a shimmering opal. It's supposed to turn red or orange when the eclipse is full. Strange, dark night. Clear and cold and very quiet. The Three Sisters are there in the sky, too, down below the moon. Silent observers, looking up, just like me.
